Join us at La Maison Française at the Embassy of France for "SHAPE In Motion: Art Benefit," a cultural showcase celebrating African art, contemporary streetwear fashion, and global skate culture. Organized by the SHAPE Skate Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, this evening brings together diplomats, artists, entrepreneurs, and sports leaders to support youth development across Africa. Proceeds from the silent auction directly fund a youth mentorship and exposure program, helping young African skateboarders attend the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.
The event features a keynote address by Ambassador Rama Yade, former French Minister of Sports and Ambassador to UNESCO, who will speak on sports diplomacy and youth empowerment. Guests can explore a curated art and fashion market with works from over 20 artists, bid on exclusive fine art pieces in the silent auction (including works from Senegal and a piece by Victor Ekpuk), and enjoy an African fashion show featuring Howard University students in modern streetwear crafted from West African fabrics.
Special guests include Zambian Pro Skateboarder Mukuka Chande, alongside live DJ sets, light food and refreshments, and networking opportunities with DMV community leaders and creative entrepreneurs. This event is a unique opportunity to engage with vibrant African culture while supporting a meaningful cause.
Tickets are $25. Please note that each attendee must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation for entry. No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID.
