Escape the rainy forecast and immerse yourself in Peruvian culture with an evening of cinema at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. This special event features two Peruvian films, offering a unique glimpse into the country's vibrant storytelling.
The program begins with Q-POP, a documentary exploring the fascinating fusion of K-pop and Quechua music through the story of Peruvian musician Lenin Tamayo. Following this, you'll see THAT SHADOW FADING [AQUELLA SOMBRA DESVANECÍA], a quiet and moving drama about a mother and son's last summer together in Piura, Peru, as they navigate unspoken emotions and the complexities of familial love. The total runtime for both films is approximately 103 minutes.
After the screenings, join fellow attendees for a reception sponsored by the Embassy of Peru, offering a wonderful opportunity for socializing. The event also includes a special presentation and Q&A session with filmmaker Samuel Urbina for THAT SHADOW FADING.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance online to guarantee your entrance, or at the AFI box office on the day of the event. The films will be shown in Spanish, Quechua, Korean, and English with English subtitles.
