Join the Embassy of France for an evening with the Picnic Theatre Company as they present “The Secrets of Easter Island Finally Revealed!” This unique theatrical experience, directed and written by Steve Rochlin, delves into the enduring mystery of Easter Island and its awe-inspiring giant stone idols.
Based on a true story, the play takes audiences on a humorous and thought-provoking journey across centuries. It explores various theories surrounding the island's origins, from supernatural explanations to the contributions of intrepid explorers, ambitious entrepreneurs, investigative journalists, brilliant scholars, and obsessive truth-seekers.
The evening begins with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 90-minute performance at 7:30 p.m. (with no intermission). The Picnic Theatre Company, known for its site-specific party theater, features an all-volunteer cast of D.C. professionals, journalists, and diplomats. Proceeds from their performances are donated to museums and arts and education charities.
