About

Join us for an insightful presentation on "The Role of the French Military in the American Revolution, 1777-1783" at La Maison Française. Major General (ret.) Vincent de Kytspotter, an armored cavalry officer with a Ph.D. in Political Sciences, will lead this historical overview.

Drawing from his extensive research, including his recent book on the "Victory at Yorktown, October 1781," MG (ret.) de Kytspotter will depict the Franco-American military campaign from 1777 to 1783. He will analyze the tactical victory at Yorktown and its profound strategic consequences, which reshaped the international balance of power in Europe and globally. The presentation will also explain how Yorktown served as a laboratory for ideas and principles of war that later influenced the success of the Napoleonic Armies.

Beyond traditional narratives, this event offers a comprehensive analysis of the crucial Franco-American alliance and its impact on the geopolitical landscape. It will also touch upon how Yorktown provided an opportunity to test new French weapons systems in combat, highlighting the unprecedented concentration of strategic breakthroughs during the siege.

This event is hosted by the Embassy of France and takes place at La Maison Française. Tickets are $25.
