Join us for the premiere performance of "The Therapeutic Harpsichord" by renowned harpsichordist and composer Janine Johnson. Echoing J.S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, this vividly programmatic set of Preludes and Fugues offers a musical diary of the transformative year 2020. The work gives musical shape to the shifting emotional landscape of that time, capturing both solitude and disquiet, alongside unexpected flashes of joy found in nature and daily life.
This concert is the second of three in Festival Capriccio 2026’s Counterpoints Cycle. The Cycle explores the harpsichord's versatility and expressive voice through a kaleidoscope of music spanning centuries, from the Baroque to contemporary times. Across the three concerts, different eras of music meet, echo, and illuminate one another, revealing unexpected connections.
Attendees can purchase the bound score for "The Therapeutic Harpsichord" for $20 on the ticket purchase page or at the door (electronic payment only). The music is suitable for both harpsichord and piano. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Please note security rules: Each person must have a ticket registered in their name and a matching government-issued ID for entry. No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID. Allow extra time for security screenings. Umbrellas, large bags, and backpacks are not permitted.
