The Mexican Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the Anna H. Wang Concert Series and SPHINX, presents "Raíces en Diálogo," a celebration of artistic exchange, cultural connection, and the power of live music.
This recital features the SPHINX Virtuosi, who will explore the rich musical traditions of the Americas through a diverse selection of works. The program highlights how music creates bridges across communities, histories, and borders, inviting listeners to experience the many ways musical identity can be expressed through the string quartet.
The repertoire brings together music shaped by the sounds, rhythms, and expressive traditions of Latin America and the wider Americas. From the Brazilian character of Noites Cariocas to the lyrical voice of Florence Price, the Mexican song tradition of Manuel Ponce, the tango of La Cumparsita, and José White's Cuban-inflected La Bella Cubana, the evening promises a vibrant musical journey. The musicians of the Sphinx String Quartet will introduce the works live during the presentation.
This is a paid event held at the Mexican Cultural Institute, located at 2829 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009. Please register via the provided link to secure your spot.
