El Embajador que Cambió la Historia documentary screening
6:30 PM · Spanish Cultural Center - Embassy of Spain
Latvian Film Night & Social is a free film event hosted by the Embassy of Latvia in Washington, D.C. It takes place on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 5:30 PM. Admission is free. Tickets are required. Nearest Metro: 9-min walk from Dupont Circle (Red).

The Embassy of Latvia, in cooperation with the Washington Film Institute, invites you to a special screening of Blizzard of Souls. This acclaimed Latvian World War I epic is the highest-grossing film in Latvian box-office history, offering a profound look into a pivotal moment in the nation's past.
Based on true events and a novel once banned by the Soviets, the film follows a young Latvian soldier as he confronts the brutal realities of war while Latvia strives for independence. It's a moving story that explores themes of courage, loss, identity, and the very birth of a nation.
Join fellow film enthusiasts for an evening of Latvian cinema and cultural exchange. The event begins with a pre-screening social from 5:30–7:00 PM at The Ven Hotel (2015 Massachusetts Ave NW), followed by the film screening at 7:15 PM at Friends Meeting of Washington (2111 Decatur Pl NW).
Please note that while an RSVP on Meetup is available, it does not serve as a ticket for admission. Tickets are required and can be purchased through the Washington Film Institute website.
