Mexico at the AFI Latin American Film Festival 2026
Time TBD · Mexican Cultural Institute
Ciclo de Cortos LGBTQ+ | Mexican LGBTQ+ Short Films was a film event hosted by the Embassy of Mexico in Washington, D.C. It took place on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Mexican Cultural Institute. Nearest Metro: 4-min walk from Farragut West (Blue/Orange/Silver).

Join the Mexican Cultural Institute in celebrating Pride Month with a special film cycle featuring Mexican LGBTQ+ short films. From June 26 through July 8, 2026, the lobby of the Institute will host a continuous screening of these films during regular opening hours.
This series is made possible with the generous support of Mexico's Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), an institution dedicated to promoting Mexican cinema and nurturing emerging filmmakers. The program includes "AIRE | AIR" (Mexico, 2015, 17 min.), directed by Kami García, which tells the story of Alma, a twelve-year-old girl experiencing her first love and the complexities of sexual awakening.
This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with contemporary Mexican cinema and LGBTQ+ narratives. The event takes place at the Mexican Cultural Institute, located at 2829 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009.
