The Zingaresca Ensemble returns with Songs of Passion and Love, a vibrant concert continuing The Russian Chamber Art Society's 20th Anniversary celebration. This captivating performance blends Russian, Romani, and Yiddish musical traditions in a heartfelt celebration of love and longing.
The ensemble features mezzo-soprano Alina Nazarevich, baritone Anton Belov, guitarists Vadim Kolpakov and Oleg Timofeyev, and percussionist Julie Angelis Boehler. Formed in 2006, the Zingaresca Ensemble (Italian for "in a Gypsy style") is a collaboration between celebrated Romani virtuoso Vadim Kolpakov, seven-string guitar revival pioneer Oleg Timofeyev, and Juilliard-trained baritone Anton Belov.
The ensemble interweaves classical Eastern European guitar heritage with the best traditions of the Romani and Jewish diaspora, blending the sophistication of classical music with the fiery vitality of folk musical expression. The concert takes place at La Maison Française.
