About

Step into the world of German Expressionist cinema with a screening of Fritz Lang's groundbreaking 1927 film "Metropolis." This silent science fiction masterpiece will be accompanied by a live electronic score, creating a unique audiovisual experience that bridges the gap between classic cinema and contemporary music.

The screening is part of the Goethe-Institut's Weimar Cinema series, which explores the rich cinematic heritage of Germany's Weimar Republic era. "Metropolis," with its striking visual style and themes of class struggle and technological dystopia, remains one of the most influential films in cinema history.

This free event takes place at the Goethe-Institut Washington on 7th Street NW. The late-night timing adds to the atmospheric experience of this silent film classic.
