ASEAN Spouses’ Circle Celebrates Philippine Tropical Flavors with Artisanal Kombucha was a workshop event hosted by the Embassy of Philippines in Washington, D.C. It took place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Embassy of the Philippines. Nearest Metro: 8-min walk from Farragut North (Red).

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines welcomes members of the ASEAN Spouses’ Circle (ASC) in Washington, D.C. for an interactive symposium titled “Philippine Tropical Flavors Through Kombucha Fermentation.” This event highlights the richness of Philippine tropical fruits through a contemporary culinary experience.
Mrs. Maria Lourdes Romualdez, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez and host of the event, emphasizes the importance of food in fostering friendship and cultural appreciation. She notes the Philippines' abundance of tropical produce and how kombucha offers a contemporary and healthy way to present beloved Filipino flavors.
The session is facilitated by Ms. Tanya Maynigo, a Filipino-American entrepreneur and Founder of Brindle Boxer Kombucha. She discusses the history of kombucha, the science behind its fermentation, and its growing popularity as a wellness beverage. Participants learn about kombucha’s potential health benefits and the ease of culturing and fermenting the drink.
A highlight of the afternoon is a kombucha tasting featuring infusions of mango, calamansi, and pineapple, accompanied by a Filipino merienda. This allows participants to experience firsthand how Filipino kombucha pairs with Filipino food. This workshop is part of the Philippine Embassy’s ongoing cultural diplomacy initiatives to promote Philippine agricultural products, culinary creativity, and food culture, while fostering friendship and cooperation among ASEAN member states.
